Backyard Lemonade with Vodka Floaters

The vodka floaters keep it cool and give this summer favorite a zip! The simple syrup can be added by the individual or made by you- I like to sweeten the lemonade just a bit and then serve the syrup in individual small serving cups so each may add the syrup to their liking.

Makes 6 cups lemonade

2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
5 cups water (for diluting)
6 shots Vodka (good stuff)
16 – 20 Frozen organic raspberries

Simple Syrup

Makes 1 1/2 cups syrup
1 part granulated sugar and 2 parts water

Bring 2 cups water to boil. Stir in 1 cup sugar, Reduce heat to low and stir until sugar dissolves completely. The consistency will be smooth. Let cool to room temperature.

Vodka (good stuff only)

In an ice tray, add half vodka and half spring water. Freeze for at least 3 hours, better over night. Make 3-4 ice cubes per drink

Chilled tall glasses
1 cup fresh lemon juice
3 – 4 cups spring water

Mix, adjust and add a bit of the simple syrup to sweeten

Drop 3 or 4 frozen raspberries in the bottom of the chilled glasses. Add the vodka floaters and then the lemonade. Serve with a 1/2 cup pitcher (like a creamer pitcher) of simple syrup.
